Microsoft's 'Find Your Joy' holiday ad just left me feeling sad

What do Halo, Microsoft Teams, Minecraft, and Microsoft Flight Simulator accept in mutual? They're all more important than your dog, at least co-ordinate to this year'south holiday ad from Microsoft.

The latest ad shows an adorable dog going from family member to family member trying to get attending. The beginning person is too decorated playing Halo to even await at the dog. The domestic dog then walks over to some other member of the family unit that's on a Microsoft Teams call. She at to the lowest degree looks at it and pets it (but just in one case!). The furry family member and so trots over to someone playing Minecraft. She looks at the domestic dog but doesn't fifty-fifty pet it.

In a last-ditch effort to get affection, the canis familiaris goes to someone playing Microsoft Flight Simulator. Like many of the other members of the family, the gamer doesn't give the dog a glance.

The sad dog so longingly looks out the window to run across some other dog that seems to be in the aforementioned predicament. He then lays down and falls asleep on the sofa. In dreamland, the canis familiaris and its friend beyond the street are playing video games. Showtime, they're in Flying Simulator in what appears to be an homage to Snoopy and the Red Businesswoman. They and then jump into Minecraft then onto a Microsoft Teams coming together with a agglomeration of other dogs. They then fetch a live grenade for Primary Chief (!) and play in some more than games. The star of the advertising even rolls effectually on a Windows desktop.

And and so, the ad merely ... ends with the canis familiaris comatose dreaming about having fun.

Microsoft'south advertising concludes with the line "This holiday, find your joy," but the ad did annihilation simply for me. I recognize that it's supposed to be a fun little advertisement most dogs playing video games and using other Microsoft technology, but it's really a sad ad that left me feeling like I demand to have a break to hug my dogs.

Y'all might think that the advertising is near the dog going to the people and wishing that it could play games and utilise the technology, but that's not actually what the ad illustrates. The dog is conspicuously looking at the people, non their tech.

I expected the ad to end with ane of the people playing with the dog or at to the lowest degree cuddling it as it fell asleep. So much for that. The canis familiaris literally wasn't even looked at by near of the people in the commercial.

I type this absolutely reactionary slice about two feet from my dog, Charlie. He sits at my anxiety every day as I work from home. Some other bed is next to him for when his big brother Ruben wants to come, but Ruben can be a loner during the day.

I'm not maxim I can always drop everything for my dogs, but if they come up to me asking for attention, I at least pet them, or cuddle them, or do something. I don't just ignore them entirely. Even if I am too busy with work or something I can't interrupt, I go and spend time with my dogs later.

Perchance this fictional family does that after the ad finishes, simply Microsoft doesn't show information technology. And that'due south a existent bummer.
